    Elevator Pitch Competition (Group A)

    Think you have a good business idea? Present your business idea before a panel of judges and see how it compares to the ideas of your fellow students. The winner will receive $1,000 for the best 90-second pitch. The term "elevator pitch" captures the ability of an entrepreneur to have his or her business concept down so tightly and effectively that he or she could walk into a hypothetical elevator, meet a potential investor, and convey the essence of his or her business by the time the elevator reaches the 20th floor. You should be able to deliver your pitch in 90 seconds.

    Guest Talk: Mr. Will Bunker

    Founder of Match.com and General Partner at GrowthX

    Will Bunker is a serial entrepreneur and angel investor in San Francisco, California. He is the co-founder of GrowthX and board member of the Silicon Valley Growth Syndicate. During the Dot-com Boom of the 1990s, Will founded popular dating site One & Only which became the largest online dating site of the 90s with only $100K in capital, elling in 1999 for $47.5 million and later became part of Match.com. Prior to technology, Will consulted for NB Hunt and served in the United States Marine Corps. Will graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Will is an avid speaker and blogger on entrepreneurship, including feature interviews by TiE and Mixergy. Mr. Bunker launched a micro-VC fund (https://growthx.com/) geared toward startups where marketing is a key competitive advantage, and is co-founder of Tradecraft (http://www.tradecraft.com) which is a bootcamp for training traction specialist in 3 tracks: Sales/Biz Dev, Digital Marketing, and User Experience.

This app would be the game within the game. Specifically tailored to baseball, this app is for the avid sports lover or the casual fan looking for more stake in the game. We are looking to shift the focus of gambling to smaller more interactive monetary bets with not as much risk. The game consists of 2-4 players using a single team's lineup with winnings and losses based on player performance. This idea can help the casual fan develop a deeper passion for the game while potentially cashing in on your buddys bad luck.

OutrageUs aims to bring a new era of entertainment to the Starkville area with the goal of eventual expansion to other cities. This company will be a combination of indoor axe throwing and "rage room" with an outdoor activity component, similar in style to playground equipment. I want all consumers to find enjoyment in the business experience; however, my target market is more closely related to those seeking an alternative to the typical activities Starkville has to offer.

A versatile, hands-free flashlight that straps to the underside of the users wrist such that it effortlessly illuminates the intricate workspace in environments involving dexterous jobs, such as the engine bay of a car. This light also contains magnets on its underside that allow it to be detached from its wrist strap and be placed on a nearby metal object to provide a compact stationary light source. Additionally, the tip will have a 90 degree range of motion to allow the user to adjust the angle of the light and tailor its illumination to the job at hand.

Aether Energy

Aether Energy aims to use the gasification of renewable woody biomass to produce high-purity, carbon-neutral hydrogen gas at a lower cost than conventional production methods. This Hydrogen can be sold for use in the production of anhydrous ammonia, direct iron ore reduction for steel production, and in hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

HAND TECHNOLOGIES, LLC, is a startup that spun off from Mississippi State University. Our team of materials chemists and aerospace engineers have developed a melt-processable, high carbon-yielding resin capable of achieving rapid manufacturing times for thick carbon/carbon (C/C) composites used in hypersonic aircraft, critical for the modernization of US defenses. This resin technology represent a significant process improvement over the current industrial standards and has been recognized as such by the hypersonics materials community. We have successfully tested a pilot production to provide several kilos for test panels and are currently in a development stage where field tests can be done.

Kol-Jones group is a social enterprise formed in 2022. We are agribusiness focused with operational interest in West Africa. Our priority commodity is handcrafted shea nuts and shea butter oil. We aggregate and process fresh shea nuts and butter from rural processors and sell to exporters and processors. The global shea butter industry in 2020 was valued above $1.7 billion and is projected to reach $3 billion by 2027 due to food and cosmetic industry demands. In our pilot phase (2021), we made 80% profit through aggregation from rural shea processors and selling to exporters and processors in a year.

HAND TECHNOLOGIES, LLC, is a startup that spun off from Mississippi State University. Our team of materials chemists and aerospace engineers have developed a melt-processable, high carbon-yielding resin capable of achieving rapid manufacturing times for thick carbon/carbon (C/C) composites used in hypersonic aircraft, critical for the modernization of US defenses. This resin technology represent a significant process improvement over the current industrial standards and has been recognized as such by the hypersonics materials community. We have successfully tested a pilot production to provide several kilos for test panels and are currently in a development stage where field tests can be done.
